Rev. Gary A. Chorpenning
Pastor

I was born and raised among the hills and valleys of Wheeling, West Virginia. After high school, I moved sixty miles up the road to attend the University of Pittsburgh, where I caused my parents to worry about by future employability by choosing to major in philosophy. I graduated from Pitt in 1978 and moved on to New England where I enrolled at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. In 1982 I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree.

My first pastorate was at Point Breeze Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh. I served there for seven years before moving to Ohio to become the pastor at Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Columbus. After thirteen years of service there, I accepted the call to become the pastor here at North Church beginning my service in January 2003.

My wife, Meg, is a social worker, working with families of children with life-threatening illnesses. We have three children, Faith (1992), David (1993), and Grace (1995).

Ericka Newell
College Ministry Staff

The choices students make in college set the trajectory for the rest of their lives. I am blessed to be a part of influencing students for Jesus during this critical time. This is my first year working in college ministry and at North Presbyterian Church. I lead Bible studies for college students, help them integrate into the life of North Church, and reach out to students at Elmira College through various activities.

Before working in college ministry I completed my undergraduate work at Ohio Wesleyan University receiving a degree in Religion in 2008. While at OWU I was active in the school's track and field program, participated in the Outdoor Ministry Team (OMT), and was a member of the Jubilee and Justice team. My experiences student athletes and the campus ministry at OWU have helped shape the way I do college ministry today.

Kristen George

Children and Youth Minister

The youth of North Presbyterian Church are vital parts of both the present and future of our congregation.Because of this, I am excited to begin my first year of Children and Youth Ministry at North Presbyterian Church.I am hopeful that, through a variety of worship, discipleship, and fellowship events, the children and youth of this church will desire and build relationships with Jesus Christ.

Before coming to North Presbyterian Church, I was a student at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York, majoring in Elementary Inclusive Education with a concentration in Social Studies. While at Roberts Wesleyan, I also was a member of the Sign Language Choir, Dance Ministry, Ecology Club, and Intramurals.Roberts Wesleyan also allowed me the opportunity to be part of mission teams that went to Gulfport, Mississippi to do hurricane Katrina relief and to Candelaria, Bolivia to build a church.I am glad to have had such experiences that will guide me as I minister to the children and youth of this church.
