Our Youth Group (and leaders) had the opportunity to go on a trip to “The Heifer International Farm” in Rutland, Massachusetts in July (2014). They helped with a variety of chores. They did everything from feeding the animals to herding in goats and sheep. They learned the importance of all the animals and how different countries view their importance to sustain life. In addition to helping with the animals, they laid ground for a new goat pen and worked in the massive garden that sustains the farm. They also learned of daily food waste and how to combat it with recycling, composting and portion control. Lastly, they learned how to make cheese. The trip was very rewarding and lasting friendships were formed.
